Prepared for Life...
Good for Life.

The new program for Kindergarten Boys and an adult partner
Northern Star Council’s Lion Cub program provides exciting indoor and outdoor activities specifically designed for kindergarten boys and their adult partner. Adult partners are there to support and guide, and to allow Lion Cubs to new interests and gain new experiences under adult supervision.
Learning by Doing
A Lion Cub learns by doing these things himself. As a member learns and grows, the relationship with their adult partner grows as well. At the conclusion of their kindergarten year, the Lion Cub will transition to Tiger Cubs and continue on their journey through Cub Scouting.
Proven Results
During the three year pilot, Northern Star Council has seen Lion Cubs increase retention of members and strengthen pack programs, becoming an official part of Scouting this fall. Lion Cubs are part of the pack and able to participate in all meetings, activities, fundraising efforts, camping programs, Pinewood Derby and any other pack endeavors. It is very exciting for boys, families and for Scouting!
Reaching Boys Earlier
With many other organizations offering Kindergarten age programs, Northern Star Council's development of the Lion Cub program is a way Scouting can remain relevant in the market of youth activities. Offering a K-12 experience gives all school-aged youth the opportunity to choose Scouting from the list of activities available to them.
The Lion Cub Program was created by and is exclusive to Northern Star Council, Boy Scouts of America.
