The participants in our new commercial are not actors, but real people—Scouting alumni whose lives have been positively influenced by their involvement with Scouting as youth members or adult volunteers. What many people may not realize is that nearly 54% of men have been involved in Scouting at some point in their lives and the people chosen for our ad reflect the millions of former Scouts from all walks of life who go on to lead successful and productive lives.
A number of their Scouting stories will be highlighted here throughout the course of the campaign, beginning with perhaps the most recognizable alumni featured in the commercial, Paul Douglas.

Paul Douglas was a Scout in Pennsylvania, receiving his Eagle Scout Award in 1975. He credits his work on the Weather Merit Badge with setting the direction for his career as a successful meteorologist and as the founder of Digital Cyclone. Paul was recently awarded the Boy Scouts of America's Distinguished Eagle Scout Award by the council for exceptional career and public service achievement—one of only 27 such awards presented locally since its inception in 1969.
"Scouting helped make me who I am today" says Paul. "The lessons, the fun, and the leaders have all left a lasting impression and I'm proud to say my son has also earned his Eagle Scout Award. Scouting is truly good for life."
